THREE WAYS PAUL AFROOZ FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY USES PRF TO REFRESH YOUR APPEARANCE

Paul Afrooz Facial Plastic Surgery uses Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) in three refined ways to achieve beautiful, renewed results:

PRF HAIR THERAPY

PRF hair therapy is an advanced regenerative treatment designed to stimulate dormant hair follicles, renew follicle function, and support natural hair growth. PRF contains a high concentration of platelets, fibrin, white blood cells, and growth factors that work together to improve scalp health and encourage thicker, healthier hair.

PRF is derived from your own blood and processed using a slower centrifugation method than earlier platelet-based treatments. This preserves the integrity of healing cells and allows growth factors to be released gradually over several days, providing a longer-lasting biologic signal to the hair follicles.

Treatment may help:

  • Slow or reverse early hair thinning
  • Improve hair density and caliber
  • Support healthier follicle activity

PRF SKIN TREATMENTS

PRF is used to address many of the most common skin concerns associated with aging. One of the key advantages of PRF is its extended release of growth factors—up to one week—allowing for more sustained collagen and elastin stimulation compared to earlier-generation platelet therapies.

These growth factors activate stem cells and regenerative pathways, improving skin quality from within. The platelets contained in PRF are considered more robust and biologically active, which may support faster healing and more durable skin rejuvenation.

Prepared PRF is immediately ready for:

  • Injection into facial folds and fine lines
  • Improving skin tone, texture, and elasticity
  • Enhancing overall skin vitality and radiance

PRF may also be combined with SkinPen® microneedling to stimulate collagen production and skin renewal further.

PRF for Under-Eye Loose Skin and Dark Circles

The skin beneath the eyes is among the thinnest and most delicate areas of the face and is often one of the first regions to show signs of aging. PRF is an ideal treatment for under-eye rejuvenation and, for select patients, may be a preferred option over heat-based skin-tightening devices.

PRF helps improve under-eye concerns by:

  • Thickening fragile skin
  • Improving skin quality and elasticity
  • Reducing the appearance of dark circles
  • Softening hollows and crepey texture

PRF can also enhance the results of under-eye fillers. While hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane® can immediately restore volume, PRF improves the quality of the overlying skin.

When used together in a conservative, strategic manner, PRF can reduce the risk of puffiness or discoloration while creating a smoother, more natural transition from the lower eyelid to the cheek.

What Should I Expect During a PRF Treatment?

The first step of a PRF treatment is drawing a small amount of blood from your arm. The blood is then processed using a specialized low-speed centrifuge to isolate platelet-rich fibrin while preserving cellular integrity.

Next:

  • For hair restoration: A local anesthetic is applied to the scalp for comfort before PRF is injected into areas of thinning hair.
  • For under-eye rejuvenation: PRF is carefully injected beneath the eyes to improve dark circles, skin quality, and contour.
  • For skin revitalization: PRF may be injected directly or used in combination with SkinPen® microneedling.

Most PRF treatments take about one hour or less. Mild redness or swelling may occur but typically resolves quickly.

Benefits of PRF Treatments

  • Activates the body’s natural regenerative response to support collagen production and cellular repair
  • Improves skin quality, tone, and structure for a refreshed, more youthful appearance
  • Strengthens hair follicle activity to promote thicker, healthier hair growth
  • Non-surgical treatment with minimal downtime and a brief recovery period

Candidates for PRF Treatments

Individuals who are noticing under-eye dark circles, changes in skin quality, or early hair thinning may be excellent candidates for PRF treatments. PRF is ideal for patients seeking a natural, regenerative approach to improving skin vitality or supporting healthier hair growth. Patients who achieve the best outcomes are generally in good overall health and have no active infections, inflammation, or rashes in the treatment area.

Results After a PRF Treatment

PRF works by activating the body’s natural regenerative processes. Initial improvements typically appear within 4 to 6 weeks as collagen production increases and hair follicles receive sustained biologic stimulation. During this time, patients may notice gradual improvements in skin quality, tone, and texture, or increased hair strength and density in treated areas.

By approximately three months, more visible improvement is often seen, including firmer, healthier-looking skin and thicker, fuller hair growth where PRF was applied. While PRF results are not permanent, they are long-lasting. Many patients enjoy improved skin quality, restored vitality, or healthier hair for up to one to two years before maintenance treatment is recommended.

Because hair grows in cycles, follicles must be stimulated at different stages of the cycle. For this reason, a series of three PRF hair restoration treatments, spaced about one month apart, is commonly recommended to achieve optimal results.

Recovery Period and Aftercare tips after PRF Treatments

There is little to no downtime following PRF treatment. Some patients may experience mild, temporary effects such as tenderness, slight swelling, minor bleeding, itching, or headache at the treatment site. These effects are typically minimal, allow you to resume normal daily activities, and resolve on their own over the following days.

For best results, please follow these aftercare guidelines:

  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, and swimming for 48 hours
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine for several days following treatment
  • Do not smoke for at least one week after your procedure

For hair restoration:

  • Avoid hair products for at least six hours after treatment
  • A warm or hot shower later the same day may help promote circulation and support the effects of PRF
